Flowers vary in size and shape and are usually large and showy. Blossoms are often fragrant and range in color from white to yellows and reds, some nearly black. The flower form may be flat, cupped, rounded, high-centered, urn-shaped, rosette shaped, quartered-rosette, or pompon. Rose species are divided into old garden roses (in existence before 1867) and modern roses.
